FABRIC
The mosquito netting is a 100% cotton muslin style fabric. It is slightly transparent,
looks delicate however, it is quite strong. Shaking and airing your Mosquito
net before use is advised, and also at regular intervals as you would a bed
cover. This removes dust particles and reduces the need for washing.
HANGING
The round style `Mosquito Net includes a round hoop, which attaches to the
net with ties on the inside roof, the round net is then suspended from a single
point from a hook on the ceiling.
The box style Mosquito Net has twelve ties in all placed around the roof. The
four corner ties can be attached directly to the four hooks, or a bamboo frame
can be erected and the net tied onto the frame. The ties can also be used for
tieing the net up and out of the way during the daytime.
WASHING
Wash by hand in warm water with gentle detergent or soap, rinse with a fabric
softner , then squeeze excess water [ do not twist or wring] Keeping the net
on the grain of the fabric as much as possible, hang on the line to drip dry,
preferably in the shade
CARING
When not in use, store in a pillowcase or cotton bag with a sack of lavender
or your favourite scent on a handkerchief.
DYEING
Due to the open weave, the cotton netting takes dye very well . There are many
different dyes available and each will vary, however 20 - 30 grams of dye per
net should be sufficent for a soft tone and increase for a more vibrant colour.
Keeping the net folded wet first and then submerge into the dye bath. Unfold
the net, allowing the dye access to every corner, turn over, soak for a short
while only, then refold and rinse using a fabric softner .After the final rinse,
squeeze the excess water and keeping on the grain of the fabric ,hang on the
line for drip drying.
REPAIRING
Any holes which may occur over time can be repaired subtly with a needle and
thread or transformed into a feature using motifs, fabric, sequins, beads etc
etc Decorating your Mosquito Net will make it unique, the seams are the ideal
points to attach or drape laces, tassels or braid, however do not attach to
the open weave this will weaken the netting.
TIPS
On a hot summer night wet the Mosquito Net and turn on the fan for air conditioning.
